Occurrence, antimicrobial resistance, and potential zoonosis risk of avian pathogenic Escherichia coli in Indonesia: A review

چکیده
Avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) causes avian colibacillosis or and is a major endemic disease of poultry worldwide, including in Indonesia. It characterized by black proventriculus can damage other organs, leading to pericarditis, perihepatitis, water sacculitis, mesenteritis, omphalitis. The APEC strain one the six main sub-pathotypes extraintestinal E. (ExPEC) pathotype. relationship between infection humans questionable. previous studies have suggested products, meat eggs, as potential source for transmission ExPEC humans. Due absence reporting incidents lack literature updates on this disease, it seems if does not exist Since bacterial resistance growing problem Indonesia, globally, World Health Organization issued statement regarding importance assessing related factors their control strategies. Antimicrobial resistance, especially multidrug presents challenge when treating infectious diseases. In incidence several antimicrobials cases high. addition, human infections present zoonotic risk. Furthermore, exists antibiotic foodborne bacteria occurrence humans, so use antibiotics industry must be controlled. Therefore, One strategy should implemented prevent overuse misuse industry. This review aimed increase awareness people who are at risk getting from controlling spread maintaining clean environment hygienic personnel farms.

Background: Kebab is one of the popular ready-to-eat foods in Indonesia and sold as a street food. The purpose of this study was to determine occurrence and antibiotic resistance of Escherichia coli in street-vended kebab in Dramaga, Bogor, Indonesia. Methods: Totally, 43 samples of kebab meat were collected from street food kebab vendors. Examinations on Total Plate Count (TPC), and total E. ...
متن کاملA study on the presence of some potential virulence genes and quinolone resistance in avian pathogenic Escherichia coli isolated from chickens in Northeast of Iran
Background: Avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC), which is the causative agent of colibacillosis, harbors several putative virulence genes. An important trait of APEC for both poultry and public health is antibiotic resistance. Objectives: In the present study, some potential virulence genes of APECs isolated from Northeast of Iran and their resistance to the quinolones antibiotics were stu...
متن کاملMolecular Characterization and Antimicrobial Resistance of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli
Background:Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are the most common infectious diseases in childhood. The Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) strains account for as much as 80% of UTIs. Objective:From a clinical perspective, it is important to know which virulence factors and antibiotic resistance properties are present in UPEC strains in pediatrics. Therefore, this study was carried out...
متن کاملpapA gene of avian pathogenic Escherichia coli.
P fimbrial adhesins may be associated with the virulence of avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC). However, most APECs are unable to express P fimbriae even when they are grown under conditions that favor P fimbrial expression. This failure can be explained by the complete absence of the pap operon or the presence of an incomplete pap operon in Pap-negative APEC strains. In the present study...
